FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q – What is the difference between Counselling and Psychotherapy?

A – Counselling is more short term, usually to solve a particular problem or for support during a difficult time, e.g. I want help to manage my anxiety.

Psychotherapy is more long term, where we do deeper work, to change aspects of our coping mechanisms/personality/self beliefs/ways of being in the world, e.g. I want to understand why all my relationships start off so well, but then I begin to feel trapped.

Q – Who goes to Counselling /Psychotherapy?

A – Absolutely anyone can go to Counselling/Psychotherapy and for a whole range of reasons. Some go during a crisis or with a problem they have been struggling with for a while. For others it’s a feeling that all is not right or perhaps for personal development and growth; and some go to be heard, to have their story witnessed and honoured.
